Calls for service by month

Published calls for service a month, 2022-01 to 2026-1005,00010,00015,0002022City open data

The portal holds 402,829 calls from 2022 to 2026-10-09. By calendar year: 2022 102,743, 2023 92,018, 2024 79,383, 2025 73,126, 2026 55,559 (the last year to October 9). Year to date, 2026 is running -4.0% against 2025.

These rows are not the department's full workload. SMPD's annual reports count 128,820 calls in 2024 and 124,848 in 2025, including 51,616 officer-initiated calls in 2024. The portal published 79,383 rows for 2024, within three percent of the public-initiated remainder, and since the City's dispatch system changed in late 2023 the portal carries almost no officer-initiated activity and no coordinates. Every post-2023 row on this site is placed on its block by the City's own address points (median 27 m from the City's point where both exist).

The open incident file carries 164,424 UCR-coded reports and ends in 2024-05, when the department moved to a new records system. It runs below the department's published Part I totals (4,224 against 4,303 for 2021 and 3,956 against 4,884 for 2023), so the series above is read for its shape, not its level, after 2022. The eight offense types, downtown against the rest of the city, and the hotspot analysis are on the RAND page.

The 2024 report had counted 4,840 Part I crimes for 2024 and 4,917 for 2023; the 2025 report restates 2024 as 4,793 after the records-system change.

The blotter

SMPD posts a calls-for-service report and an arrest report every day. This site logs both each morning: 2,113 calls and 133 arrests over 10 days so far. The blotter page has each day.
